The Heart of Hastings Community Land Trust is a Community Benefit Society with a strong asset lock, so that means it’s all about long term community ownership.
We operate in White Rock and Ore Valley. Our long term goals are to create affordable homes, spaces and opportunity. As a community land trust we ensure that our assets are in community hands. We are democratically led a membership organisation based on one member one vote.
'Heart of Hastings Ore Valley' is a long-term project set up by, and for, the local community. Anyone can be involved. It was initiated by the Heart of Hastings Community Land Trust. The current aim is for the community to use this open space for different events, and involve as many people as possible in order to use the land in a way that benefits the community. Longer term, we intend for the local community to gain or use their skills to support or help build sustainable housing. This can lead to lots of employment opportunities for local people. Events planned, or already carried out, include a Chilli cooking competition, wildlife walks, green gym tasks, paintballing, rubbish clearing and recycling, BBQs and music, art installations, outdoor films and projections, woodwork and woodland craft lessons.
