  • Letters to the Earth workshop & Pot Luck Dinner

Letters to the Earth workshop & Pot Luck Dinner

Join the Culture Declares Emergency Southeast Coastal Hub for a free workshop that explores responses to the climate and ecological emergency.
Letters to the Earth is a creative participatory campaign that has generated, received and amplified thousands of letters to or from the Earth from people all over the world.
All ages are welcome. Please register at https://onca.org.uk/event/letters-to-the-earth-workshop/
This workshop will create space for participants to share thoughts and feelings about the climate and ecological emergency, and facilitate the generation of creative and personal responses through the writing and sharing of Letters – which can be to or from the Earth, another species, person, moment in time or place.
Expect new conversations and a chance to find common ground and new collaborations.
The facilitator is Kay Michael, a theatre-maker, co-founder of Culture Declares and the director of Letters to the Earth.
It will be followed by Transition Town Hastings’ Food for Thought zero-waste potluck supper (7-9pm)  – please bring a dish to share if you would like to stay on for the evening.
  • Beyond the Beach Clean / Free community film screening

Beyond the Beach Clean / Free community film screening

Plastic is cheap, cheerful and very convenient – and it’s also made from fossil fuels and threatening the health of every living thing on the planet.

You’re invited to take part in series of ‘long-game’ conversations about our problems with plastic, hosted by Strandliners, Wonderfill and Transition Town Hastings.

Thursday, 3 February and Thursday, 17 February / No booking required

The series will start on Thursday, 3 February at 7pm with us coming together to hear how local thought-leaders see the nature of the challenge.
They’ll set out their stalls (literally and figuratively!) and, hopefully, pose a few provocative questions.

    Global challenge, local solutions
Between our 3rd and 17th February conversations, we’ve arranged community-viewing permission for the feature-length film, The Story of Plastic, which you can access through the Eventbrite link here.

This means you can watch the film at home at whatever time suits, between the 12th and 16th of February.  Then join the conversation again on the 17th , when we’ll reconvene to share our thoughts and impressions, and use our collective wisdom and impact, to begin the ‘long game’ of changing our behaviour and phasing out the use of plastics.

We look forward to starting the conversation with you!
